Listening to God

We all need to learn to "stick it out" until God's promise comes to pass. We make the mistake of holding on to good things that keep us from the better things God has in mind for us. We arrive at our destination one step at a time, not all at once. Something that was once the will of God may not continue to be His will forever. He is progressive, and He leads us on to higher places. Sometimes we are so entangled and engrossed in what we are doing that we don't hear God when He is telling us to move on or step out. Take time to listen to God, and when you sincerely believe He is speaking to you, take the steps of obedience He requires. And remember that progress requires investment. God takes what we are willing to give up for Him, and multiplies it back to us in a bigger and more wonderful way than we could ever have imagined.

We all need to hear from God each day, about many different issues, but there are critical times in our lives when we especially need to know that we are hearing clearly from Him. It's not always easy to know if we are hearing from God or if we are hearing from our own emotional reasoning. Sometimes God speaks by opening or closing a door to something we want to do. God can open doors of opportunity that no one can close, and He can also close doors that we simply cannot open. There are times in life when we must take a step forward in order to find out, one way or the other, what we should do. Some doors will never open unless we take a step toward them.

God is always listening for the sound of your voice calling out to Him. Develop a ready ear for His voice too. Whatever you have to do today, do it with the Lord. Acknowledge Him and talk to Him about everything. You will greatly enjoy His company.
